June 6th – Leavitt Peak

Decent to Sonora Pass was treacherous. Lots of snowy traverses.

Picked up by the shuttle service to Kennedy Meadows North at 10:30am. Breakfast, shower, resupply box, shopping, mailed bear can back to Mark Painter, lunch, and back on the 2:30pm shuttle. Place makes it easy to do all that. Some unknown stranger bought me breakfast which was very nice and an great full for.

Shuttle driver is a talkative older man with a lab. He has lots of good questions. Another thru hiker ask about being a Franciscan. During lunch I learned another hiker is going to Stanford and studying Computer Science. They really miss the in person experience and do not like remote learning. They are very concerned about what company they will work from a moral and ethical point. Department of Defense is out for example. I gave them a list of my career employment, culture, work life balance which they found help.

Last two hikers on the shuttle back up to the trail are young remote workers. They find monthly Arbnb rentals and move about the country each month. They are headed to Washington State next.
