June 28th – Cache 22

Hot would be an understatement. Used the umbrella from start to finish. Long day. 6:30am to 5:45pm. 11 liters of warm water sustained the effort. Made it to the store before they closed at 6pm. Ice cream sandwich and a cold drink from their fridge.

Bees?

Skin pealing from my palms for some reason.

June 25th – Soldier Creek

Logistics mix up. Resupply was not sent to Drakesbad Guest Ranch. Got $15 in snacks to hold me over. Old Station is 28 miles down the road with a convenience store and restaurant.

This place does have free showers along with hot meals. Will be heading out late tomorrow due to getting breakfast here.

Met up with a hiker from months ago. Only Asian man I have seen hiking. He like me is settling into get the miles done.

Basically four months for me to get half way. That pace would not have me finish before the snow. Fortunately the body has adapted somewhat and is doing what I tell it to.

S’mores after dinner. Reminds me of my Wednesday night hiking group and S’mores in the ski parking lots this past winter. All the kids where to tired to stay long. Did have some great conversations with two guests of the Ranch. One s school teacher and another s practicing Roman Catholic. I am sure they will continue the conversation in the days to come as they will be here for a few more.
