Night in a motel, hot food, resupply, planning ahead and great time with Mary, wife, and Christa, sister.
Month: July 2021
July 21st – Mazama Village/Crater Lake
New shoes. 733 trail miles on the last set. No more cushion left in them.
After a late second breakfast took a long nap. Realizing how tiring hiking every gets. Definitely notice how slow things heal.
July 20th – Seven Lakes Basin
July 19th – Squaw Lake
Met a southbound hiker just doing Oregon. Retired and remembers going to Catholic school and daily Mass. He no longer practices. His sister still does and goes to a church that still does the Mass in Latin. He did not know there is Religious life outside the Roman church. Very supportive of the OSF after I educated him on some of the details that make us a non-traditional order.
July 18th – South Brown Mountain Shelter
July 17th – Hyatt Lake Campground
Hyatt Lake has a place that serves breakfast. Cannot pass up a hot meal that is a mile off the trail.
July 16th – Gold Hill
My cousin Bob snd his wife Heather hosted me at their place for a day of rest. Thankful for their support. Getting dropped off at the trailhead to start the day
